Some Florida Springs To Keep You Cool This Summer

If you have experienced Summer in Jacksonville, you know it gets HOT. Most days require you to stay indoors, near a pool, the beach or some sort of body of water. Luckily, Florida is filled with beautiful beaches, springs, rivers and other natural ways to keep the family cool during those scorching days! Jacksonville, Florida in particular is only a short distance to quite a few of these well-known bodies of water. Ginnie Springs, Blue Springs, Ichetucknee Springs, Wakulla Springs, and Crystal River are a few popular springs located in Florida.  Whether you live in Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Ponte Vedra or Ponte Vedra Beach, all of these springs are accessible for a day trip or a weekend!

Ginnie Springs is a privately-owned Park in Gilchrist County near High Springs, FL. The springs stay at a constant 72 degrees year-round. The springs are located on the Santa Fe River, where you can float to one of the many springs located in the park. Ginnie Springs are located on an enormous campsite, with public bathrooms, showers, volleyball nets and even a small restaurant.

Blue Springs is known for the sky rocking increase of the manatee’s population since 1970, these protected animals grew from 14 tracked manatees to a record of 485! You can camp, hike or enjoy the view here along the St. John’s River. You might even be able to swim with a manatee!

Ichetucknee Springsis a 2,669-acre State Park in North Central Florida. Tubes, canoes, rafts, kayaks and Paddleboards are all available to rent in the park. These beautiful Springs are shared with wildlife, make sure to read the rules to help protect them!

Wakulla Springsare only 15 minutes out of Tallahassee, Florida. This is actually the deepest freshwater spring in the world! You can’t take a trip to Wakulla without a taking a boat tour, canoeing or jumping from rope swings.

Crystal Springs has been known as “the home of the manatee” since 1903. This spring definitely fits its name, the water is crystal clear and it is located in Citrus County, Florida. Fishing, swimming, boating, skiing and relaxing is highly permitted!
